Procrastination
Today is the last day I ever have to go to HACC. If I don't want to, that is. My Human Services teacher set us up for a guaranteed A, that is if we feel like working for it. He gave us a list of 6 essay questions. Three will be on the final. We can put our answers on notecards for the test. To me, this is a genius teacher move. Not only will we be walking away with the knowledge that he wants us to have, but he looks good because all of his students aced the final. And not even because it was easy, just because we prepared. Anyway, we had a week to prepare our answers and of course I waited until yesterday to start. I walked out of class last week and told a friend, "I'm going to do a question a day." To which she replied, "Good idea!" I don't know if my pride will allow me to admit how much of a procrastinator I am. And here I am. It's 11:00 AM. I have to leave by 1:15, and I'm writing a blog. I don't even have a full answer completed. I keep starting answers and then moving on because I get bored. I wish I had the ability to just start something and not stop until I was done. I inherited the laziness gene from someone, and I'm pissed about it.

Crumpet

I'm reading Holidays On Ice by David Sedaris, and I can't put it down. I've gone on a cyber-rampage, buying any and every book he's ever written. Holidays On Ice is a compilation of his "most profound Christmas stories" (according to the back cover). I just finished the first story, SantaLand Diaries, which is about the winter he spent working as an Elf at Macy's SantaLand. His elf name was Crumpet, and later changed to Blisters. This is a must-read, I'm telling you. I've never laughed out loud so much whilst reading a book.

Home Stretch
Two weeks and one day until the end of the semester. Only three more classes until finals week. It's bitter sweet, because I have a shitload of work to still do, but time is universal, and no matter what, I'm done in 15 days. I have to write all of my Religion and Human Services journals. I have to complete a Religion presentation. I have an exam in Meteorology. I have a five-page essay in Tai Chi. And I have finals in every single class. Worst of all, my Meteorology final is accumulative. That means I have a 2 hour and 20 minute final on 17 chapters. There goes my C. I'll be lucky if I pass, much less get to transfer the class to Penn State. If I don't pass, I can't graduate. From HACC! How pathetic. It would be pretty sad if I dropped 16% in the last two weeks, though. If I at least try, it shouldn't happen. I'm less concerned about transferring the credits than I am graduating. I just want the piece of paper. It's the only reason I even took this course, anyway. I did not anticipate how difficult it would be. I just need to breathe and figure out a study/test-taking method. It's a little too late to study 17 chapters, so I need to figure out an efficient way to sift through the book during the final (it's open book, don't worry, I'm not cheating). I can also do the bonus for some extra points. And hopefully even if I do horribly, there's a curve or my teacher has mercy on me.

I hate Meteorology!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PHILLY!
I'm going to Philly this weekend to visit my sister. I'm super excited, because I've spent the last three weeks living penniless so I can go Christmas shopping this weekend. Then next Friday I'll probably get a paycheck for $4.29, because I've worked like 45 minutes over the past two weeks. < / exaggeration > Anyway, I have to leave in like two hours, and I have only done one thing I planned to do today. I still have to clean out my car, pack, clean my room, and drop a bunch of clothes off at Goodwill. So I guess I should probably leave earlier than that.

I was about to list all of the homework I have to do this weekend, too, but I didn't want to depress myself anymore. I probably won't do any of it, but who really cares? It's my weekend away. I'm not going to stress myself out with anymore school bullshit. I'm already ending the semester with two C's. What am I really trying to achieve at this point?

On the bright side, I'm a baby mama. Or, mommy helper. Heidi had her baby, little Bailor (I think that's how you spell it), and she needs help around the house, so I'm going to be her "mommy helper." This should make up for my lack of hours at work. Hopefully.

Dementia
My teacher asked us if we wanted to cancel class next week for Thanksgiving, and there were actually people who said no. What the fuck? We're having class for one person who needs to give their presentation so that they can miss presentation night to go hunting. How does that even happen? How did we come to the conclusion to have class? How bout oh well you'll miss presentation night. I hate living in Hillybilly territory. I need to move to New York or Massachusetts or somewhere with people like me. Who don't groan when they hear the words "Barack Obama." And don't compare normalcy with George Bush (that happened tonight).

I've barely done any journals. I went to the library to read the one book that's on reserve there and I only got through the introduction. I'm considering buying the book so that I don't have to sit in the library for three hours. The chairs there hurt my butt.

I'm Turning Into My Mother
I went to bed at 9:00 pm last night. Nine. I woke up, fully rested, at 7:00 am. What is happening to me? I'm an old woman! My dad and I used to make fun of my mom every night for going to bed even later than that! "Anne! It's 9:30, aren't you sleepy?!" Oh my lord, I am 20-years-old, I need to stop this progressive aging now before it gets out of hand.

So, I have been really addicted to Netflix lately. Their "Browse Instant" section has gotten so much better than it used to be. They've been adding a lot of newer titles; it's no longer the "independent, low-budget, indie section." Everyday when I get off work, I pick out a movie and watch it. Over the past three days, I've watched Philadelphia, The Children's Hour, and A Time To Kill. Okay, so none of them are new titles, but I had no idea how many movies I've missed out on. So I'm catching up on the pre-new millenium selection.

Okay, now that this blog had depicted me as a complete loser, I think I'll bow out for the day.

Ketchup
I had to be at work at 6:00 AM this morning. Needless to say, I did not wake up in time to shower and look half-decent. I got to work, stepped into the bathroom, and was like, "Okay, so we're not going to look into the mirror again today." The only good thing about getting to work that early is having four hours of your entire shift with no customers. It's not irritating, it's not busy, it's just relaxing. Sort of. It's still work, but you get to actually stock items without running to the cash register every three minutes. There is one thing that holds true almost every time I work, and that's you can be dead as a doornail for seven hours straight, but five minutes before your shift ends someone will send you on a wild goose chase to find them elastic. Or fleece. Or glue. Or something will happen that will take at least ten minutes. It's like a tiny miracle if you can just leave on time.

Yes, I'm procrastinating right now. I decided I would at least start my journal entries for Human Services today, and I'm trying to find anything to avoid it. It's just so much. It's like colossal. It's an entire semester's worth of reading. I'm going to have to skim it. Obviously. I probably couldn't read all that if I had a semester, I certainly won't be able to in a few hours. Once again, wish me luck.

End of a Break
Ah, the last day of my glorious three days off work. They actually didn't fly by, so it was enjoyable. I had class two out of three days, though, so it hasn't been all fun and games. We've been learning a new routine in Tai Chi, and I feel like such an idiot every class. An hour and fifteen minutes has never felt so long. There's one move called "cloud hands" and I literally just move my hands around until I finish the foot work. I have no idea what to do. Today we learned two new moves where we have to lift our arms and legs, and while you feel like a doofus doing it, if you're standing in the back of the class while we're all doing it, it looks like we're a flock of birds about to fly away. It's actually pretty cool to watch, especially if we're in unison.

Marva and I gave our Common Roads presentation today, which I think was pretty interesting, but we were the last group to go, and by that time Jeff must have been so bored, because he interrupted our presentation with candy, sound effects, and being a horrible power point transition-er. I'm just glad the presentation is over. Now I have to read, like, our entire Human Services book and write a journal on my readings. I have two weeks. Wish me luck.

P.S. I have to do the same thing for my Religion class!!

Hello, My Name Is...
...Kayla. "Don't wear it out!" Remember when people used to say that? Okay, I guess I should formally introduce myself. I actually just deleted an old blog because it had really sporatic posts, and I wanted to turn over a new leaf. I've been writing in an actual journal, but it gives me hand cramps and I don't like the lump under my mattress, so here I am!

In a sentence, I'm twenty-years-old (twenty-one in three weeks!), I'm a full-time college student, and everything else about me is boring. What is today? November 11? I know I'm a week late, but I haven't had a chance to cyber-celebrate our new "President-Elect" (isn't that fun to say?). So here goes--holllllllerrrrrrr! I already ate ice cream all week, so that was really all I needed.

Well, my room is a disaster area, so this is where I bow out and say toodles!
